With Catherine Zeta Jones playing girl to Justin Bartha’s boy, The Rebound is not your typical rom-com. The girl is newly-divorced and 15 years older than said boy, who also happens to be her nanny. The story itself is very sweet, yet the awkwardness between the lead actors never quite dissipates. The rest of the cast also struggles to find on-screen camaraderie, aside from some great comedic moments provided by the two children witnessing their mom fall for a much younger man—a scene in which the unlikely couple, giving in to their feelings for the first time, are caught out on the couch is cringeworthy for all the right reasons. The Rebound is good for a date movie or a night out with the girls.
