Stand-Up Tokyo is proud to be organizing a comedy night version of a summer movie blockbuster, teaming Canadian veteran comedian Phil Nichol with Japan’s award-winning Yuriko Kotani. Read on to see how you can score two tickets – for free!

Last year, we were happy to report that Yuriko triumphantly took home the BBC Radio New Comedy Award. The quirky comedienne and storyteller launched her stand-up career barely a year prior to winning, and she only decided to go on stage at all only because “it was the last thing [she] could imagine [her]self doing.” She has since been performing regularly on BBC Radio and various venues in the UK and around the world. Having her return to Japan to introduce her latest set and roll out the punchlines is a special treat to her fans back home.

Phil has done it all: theater, music, writing, producing. He has been seen doing festivals over the last decade, having made his way from Canada over to Europe, and back again. Critics’ raves and multi-star reviews of his performances have piled up over the years, but he continues to push himself to do more to shock audiences – and himself.

Both Kotani and Nichol will be bringing polar perspectives to the stage, making them an unlikely but electric duo that audiences shouldn’t miss. This two-night special will be held at Good Heaven’s British Bar in Shimokitazawa, where the drinks will be flowing and laughter going all night long.

Stand-Up Tokyo and Tokyo Weekender are offering two tickets for the show of your choice – the catch, of course, if that you have to put a little bit of work into securing them for you and a lucky “plus one.” All that you have to do is email your [clean!] answer to the question: “What’s the funniest joke you’ve heard during your time spent in Japan, pertaining to Japan?” to the following address: [email protected]. The winner will be selected and contacted about a week later. Good luck, and we will see you there.
