A Historic Fireworks Festival
The Katsushika Summer Fireworks Festival will return on July 28 with over 20,000 fireworks to illuminate the Katsushika night sky.
The festival boasts 60 years of history and has long been an event where you can enjoy an authentic taste of Tokyo. Celebrating this special milestone, this year promises an unprecedented spectacle.
What makes the festival stand out amongst other events around Tokyo is that seats are very close to the launching area, giving the audience a thrilling and memorable experience. The fireworks will be joined by an exciting 1,300-drone show.
Before the fireworks display, guests can enjoy a leisurely walk through the old-fashioned streets around Shibamata Taishakuten Temple. Shibamata has a charming retro feel to it and visitors can enjoy the many summer activities the neighborhood has to offer.
Viewing from the designated riverbed area is free, but paid reserved seats will also be offered in order to better enjoy the spectacle. Priority tickets were first offered to local residents, but general ticket sales are now open until 7 p.m. on the day of the show. Tickets range from ¥5,000 for a basic folding chair, and up to ¥30,000 for a four-person premium tarp section. Tickets can be booked either through the Pia ticket website or at Seven-Eleven convenience stores.
