A Refreshing Outdoor Barbecue Experience

A beloved summer tradition in Tokyo, the Forest Beer Garden at Meiji Jingu Gaien is open for its 2026 edition. Set in a lush, open-air environment, it offers a refreshing outdoor barbecue experience in the heart of Japan’s capital.

This year, the beer garden is introducing grills from Weber, the American brand credited with revolutionizing backyard cooking in the States. The grills feature high heat when the lid is closed, trapping in a crispy texture and aroma while infusing the food with a smoky flavor, making it possible even for barbecue beginners to cook delicious meals.

Other new developments this year include the installation of a prefabricated refrigerator capable of cooling entire kegs, which connects directly to beer and sour drink dispensers, plus “magic mugs” that stay cold.

Furthermore, tented areas have been erected that can accommodate up to six people in each one — in total 600 seats are under tents. Also, this year marks the first time in three years that the waterfall directly in front of the entrance is operational.
