Processing Impermanence
UltraSuperNew Kura gallery will host an exhibition featuring French artists Barbara Penhouët and Bastien Marienne.
The exhibit is themed around the concept of appearance and impermanence, “to see what was already there, but that the eye had not yet learned to see.” Both Penhouët and Marienne are from Marseille, and capture the fleeting serenity of simple moments in their artwork, a suspended moment. The artists use a controlled combination of impasto technique and fine layers of paint to create this effect. As painters and sculptors, the artists explore the invisible borders between dream and reality.
The exhibition will feature 15 canvases, each telling a story without words. In every artwork, there is a shared breath: the desire to slow down and observe.
The gallery will run from April 3 to May 8, with a reception on opening day (17:00). The exhibit will be open by appointment only, except for Saturdays. To make a reservation, please visit the website.
