Cynical, humorous etchings at Hiromart Gallery

Mao Yamaguchi’s woodblock etchings have won numerous awards over the years in Europe, the US and Japan.

In this, his first solo exhibition Mao will express his point view of Tokyo through the surreal ‘Mao-neko’—a cat that walks on two legs.

“Mao-neko is not to be underestimated,” he says. “It expresses those feelings we all used to have, such as warmth, honesty, loneliness and madness through his wicked eyes.”

Expect bright and colorful images, injected with a cynical, humorous twist in this quirky exhibition.
