The West coast of Canada has been enjoying lots of sun (sans the humidity of Tokyo!), and the vast number of open air events are perfectly synced with nature’s rhythms.

The fun and free Victoria Electronic Music Festival on the weekend found me dancing to local and international DJs in Centennial Square. Aimed to build awareness of electronic music, the festival showcases artists all day at the square and in the evening at the after parties. Workshops are held for those seeking to learn more about the genre.

The Victoria Symphony Splash is the largest annual outdoor symphony event in Canada, attracting approximately 40,000 locals and visitors. From a float in the inner harbor, Victoria Symphony concludes the performance with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with bells, cannons, and fireworks.

Om Shanti!
