Even from thousands of miles away, Chinese citizens showed their outpouring grief over the death of a Chinese national who was killed in the Boston Marathon bombing.
Thousands took to the internet to mourn the victim after the Chinese consulate in New York confirmed her as the third casualty of the bombing. The consulate did not identify the woman as requested by her relatives although some reports named her.
The 23-year-old woman was a graduate student at Boston University. She was standing among a large group of spectators close to the finish line on Boylston Street when the first blast went off.
Her friend who was with her at that time suffered serious injuries and fell into a coma shortly after the explosion, but is now said to be in stable condition at the Boston Medical Center, reports The Independent.
“Terrorism has no national limits, the victims have no national limits. Together we condemn, together we mourn,” one Sina Weibo user posted. Others condemned the posting of the victim’s photos as “disrespectful” to the family.
The White House said the bombing was an “act of terror” and is considered the worst attack on US soil since the 9/11.
