To-may-to, to-mah-to, however you pronounce it, the humble tomato’s contribution to the culinary world is indisputable.  Pablo Neruda was inspired enough by the tomato to pen an “Ode to Tomatoes,” a loving homage to the simple yet versatile fruit, calling it “star of the earth, recurrent and fertile star.”  But a restaurant dedicated to all things tomato?  Ah, nothing food-related surprises me in Tokyo anymore.

Celeb de TOMATO celebrates the tomato in all its variations: raw, cooked into pasta sauces, marinated in various ways, pureed into juices and even incorporated into various desserts such as cakes, parfaits, and creme brulee.

Tokyo is full of restaurants dedicated to one culinary item – tempura, sushi, unagi, soba, oden – so I suppose, why not tomatoes?
