Tokyo-based artist Esow (stylised as ESOW) has developed his own style influenced by his time in America as a teenager, where he first discovered graffiti, and the Japanese concept of “iki,” an aesthetic ideal of subdued displays of taste and wealth that originated during the Edo period.
His solo exhibition at Night Out Gallery showcases his unique blending of styles, from the viewpoint of Asakusa shopping streets and Japan’s skate culture.
