Ayaka Nishiwaki, better known as A-Chan from the popular all-female techno-pop group Perfume, announced on Tuesday that she has tied the knot. The 36-year-old singer revealed the news on her Instagram page, stating that she has married “an ordinary man.” She added, “He has been a best friend of mine for a long time — he knows me inside out and has always been a supporter both of myself and Perfume.”
Nishiwaki went on to say that it has always been a dream of hers to marry a fan. “Congratulations to my teenage self. Way to go!” she wrote. The singer added that she wants “to become a ‘superwoman’ who can share even more laughter and energy with everyone.” As her husband is not from the entertainment industry, she has requested that people refrain from asking for interviews.

About Ayaka Nishiwaki
News of Nishiwaki’s marriage comes just over a month after the trio from Perfume announced that they will be going on hiatus at the end of 2025. While no information was given regarding the length of the break, the group promised to return in the future. The announcement was made on the 20th anniversary of the release of “Linear Motor Girl,” Perfume’s major label debut.
Born and raised in Hiroshima, Nishiwaki attended Actor’s School Hiroshima with Yuka Kashino (Kashiyama) and Yuka Kawashima (Kawayama), the original members of Perfume. Ayano Omoto (Nocchi), who later replaced Kawashima in the group, also went to the same school. The band formed in 1999, but Kawashima departed before they debuted.
Nishiwaki was advised by her mother that a trio would work better than a duo, so she approached Omoto. Their breakthrough hit came with the single “Polyrhythm” in 2007. It featured on the LP Game, which reached number one on the Oricon Albums Chart.
