New service MEET & EAT pairs tourists looking for a taste of real Japanese culture with locals interested in meeting people from abroad. The small groups (a maximum of three on three) meet up at a local bar or restaurant for a casual, fulfilling international wining and dining experience.

The service, which officially kicked off in beta December 4, is currently offered free of charge by the online community Hub Japan. Tourists must pay only for their food, drinks and transportation. Not all Japanese using the service speak perfect English, but all are eager to exchange cultures and socialize with people from abroad. Meeting venues are selected from a range of MEET & EAT partner restaurants.
