Bangkok will set up one million CCTV cameras across the city in an attempt to expand security surveillance, Bangkok Post reports.

The closed-circuit television cameras will be installed under a joint operation by the Metropolitan Police Bureau and TOT Corporation, says Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrachang. The “Miracle Eyes” project is aimed at improving public safety and crime prevention. The city police chief said it could also help police investigations.

The security cameras will be installed in the Government House, parliament, residences of important persons, business establishments and residential areas that will be be connected to a central CCTV control center at the Metropolitan Police Headquarters.
