North Korean state media has confirmed that its young leader is indeed married to the mystery woman seen at his side during several public events, AFP reports.
State television ended much speculation in a matter-f-fact way when it reported that the young Kim took part in the opening ceremony on Nungra People’s Amusement Park in Pyongyang “with his wife, Comrade Ri Sol-Ju”. But information on the young leader was so sparse that people don’t know how long they have been married. Ri Sol-Ju is believed to be 27 years old and to have graduated from Kim Il Sung University in Pyongyang, according to Chief researcher Chong Song Jang from the Sejong Institute, in South Korea.
Critics said that North Korea is trying to promote the young Kim as a stable leader through his portrayal as having a wife and being a family man. Kim Jong-Un is making modifications from his late father’s rule and has been often seen in public to come off as a ‘people’s leader’, according to AFP.
