The Catholic Church in Australia is urging women to marry early because statistics show that there is a drought of eligible men. A church official told the Herald Sun newspaper that there has been a massive decline in the number of Mr. Rights, with just 86,000 for 1.3 million women aged between 25 and 34.
Demographics show that the disproportionate number of single, heterosexual, well-off candidates left as future husbands might cause women to miss their chance if they are too picky.
Reverend Father Tony Kerin, episcopal vicar for justice and social service in the Archdiocese of Melbourne, said that women want the best of both worlds, “in trying to have it all, they end up missing out.”
