The colorful Design Festa Gallery in Harajuku is well known to tourists and Tokyoites alike, but the art space couldn’t contain the creativity of it’s inhabitants. The gallery’s organizers scaled up the event for the 31st biannual show in the vast halls of Tokyo Big Sight on Odaiba.

The two day event gave hundreds of creators, artists, designers and performers a chance to express their work in public. What started in 1994 with humble beginnings welcomed contributors from 70 countries this year in Japan.

The following photo-blog gives a glimpse of what was on show. For more information visit the Design Festa website here.

The walls of the hall were decorated in art works

Illustrators, Graphic Designers and Artists sold numerous prints and crafts

Collaboration was key for many large scale exhibits

Tokyo is Asia’s creative hub, so naturally Design Festa would attract some interesting young talent

From photography to hand drawn graffiti, a wide range of styles were on display

These hand illustrated Converse Hi-tops were really cool
