A Chinese tourist in Japan died on Tuesday after falling from a suspended roadside near the fourth floor of Terminal 1 at Kansai International Airport in Osaka. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. According to police reports, officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports by passersby about a man, believed to have been in his 20s, “sitting on the roadside railing.” Both his feet were reportedly hanging in the air, facing the taxi stand and bus drop-off point in what was deemed a dangerous manner.

Upon arrival, officers found the man, who was visiting Japan with his mother, suspended from the barrier while clinging to the building’s edge. As the police attempted to rescue him, he let go voluntarily, falling to the second floor, before bouncing down to the first. Unconscious, he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Speaking to J-Cast News, a representative of the Kansai Airport Police explained about the rescue operation. “When the police car arrived at the scene, the man was sitting on top of the wall. Upon seeing the car, he voluntarily hung himself over it. The officers then got out of the car and grabbed his arms. However, their grip slipped on his clothing and he fell. We cannot definitely say it was suicide.”

Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
