When Gucci Giardino opened its doors in Osaka in  November 2024 — only the second Gucci bar in the world after Florence — it instantly became one of Umeda’s most atmospheric addresses. One year on, the bar celebrates its anniversary with the same flourish that has defined its first 12 months: a renewed grand menu and a deeper exploration of the dialogue between Italy and Japan. For a brand long associated with craftsmanship and reinvention, the milestone beckons in a new chapter for the high-fashion bar.

Capturing the Essence of Osaka

Set in the lively heart of Umeda, Gucci Giardino transcends the idea of a traditional bar. It is a hybrid space where Italian elegance meets Japanese entertainment. Having opened on the same day as the renewed Gucci Osaka boutique adjacent to it, the bar extends the world of Gucci into a realm of taste, texture and atmosphere. Botanical details and velvet accents in the bar’s interior nod to the original Florence location, but you can also feel a distinctly Kansai energy that is warm, expressive and effortlessly social. Guests are invited into a universe where classic Italian motifs seamlessly find their home in Osaka.

A Renewed Menu: A Journey From Italy to Japan

To mark its anniversary, Gucci Giardino has reimagined its grand menu under the direction of Bar Manager Sebastián Viguera. The new concept, framed as a journey from Italy to Japan, highlights how each cocktail and dish travels through tradition and memory. Sixteen drinks and seven food offerings showcase an interplay between Italian roots, Latin American vibrancy and the delicate beauty of Japan.

The menu begins with creations such as Firenze Through Seb’s Eye, a pisco-based cocktail that reflects both Gucci’s birthplace and Viguera’s Latin heritage, with Peruvian Portón Mosto Verde Pisco, a syrup crafted from traditional Tuscan unsalted bread and Tuscan extra virgin olive oil.

From there, drinks like Anima de Guerreiro reinterpret the classic negroni through the smoky spirit of mezcal, combining Clase Azul Guerrero scented with guanciale (salt-cured pork jowl), butter-washed Campari and Mancino Rosso for a cocktail full of depth and lingering warmth.

Even classics find a new voice, such as Serenade to a Stranger, an espresso martini reimagined with jasmine-kissed whisky, Italian and Colombian coffee liqueurs and a whisper of cacao butter beneath a cloud of aromatic coffee foam.

The food selection embraces the theme of “global comfort,” starting with the Caprese Giardino, which transforms the familiar Italian antipasto into a chilled, herbaceous composition of semi-dried tomatoes, mozzarella, olives and basil granita.

The menu continues its world tour with the Ise Lobster Roll, a luxurious Japanese interpretation of the East Coast staple, where fresh lobster marinated in lemon dressing, pickled cucumber and basil-scented sauces are wrapped in soft rolls.

For an indulgent treat, the Caviar Plate — served in a sculptural egg-shaped dish alongside mini focaccia and Champagne — is the epitome of playful luxury.

A Robust Cocktail and Mocktail Collection

What distinguishes Gucci Giardino’s bar program is its dual structure: each cocktail has a corresponding non-alcoholic expression, allowing guests to explore the full breadth of flavors regardless of preference. Viguera’s own influences of Latin American flavors, Italian tradition and Japanese craft are reflected across the spirit and spirit-free creations.

The Fashionably Late, for instance, is a reimagined Old Fashioned using sandalwood and sansho syrup. Finished with zero-proof bitters, it offers the aromatic depth of a classic with a playful, modern lift.

The Ode to Gucci, meanwhile, answers a guest’s request for a “Gucci-style coffee,” blending non-alcoholic grappa brandy and bourbon, cold brew coffee, pomegranate and a touch of Massimo Bottura’s balsamic vinegar for a fruity and bright espresso martini.

Every glass captures the house’s commitment to a layered and imaginative menu. As Gucci Giardino steps into its second year, it remains one of Osaka’s most compelling destinations, where every visit feels like a journey to and from Florence.
