Tokyo Poetry Journal Volume 13, “Maladies, Calamities & Misfortunes,” is the publication’s response to not just the pandemic, but all other misfortunes all over the world. Some of the high-profile events covered in the poems in the volume are the killing of George Floyd and the protests that came in its wake, the murder of Mahsa Amini in Iran, the invasion of Ukraine, and more. To emphasize how these are issues that affect us all, the journal opened the submissions for everyone, regardless of whether there was a connection to Japan or not.

The book launch will take place on August 11 at Ol La Cabina near Bakurocho Station.

Admission includes a copy of the book and all proceeds go to support the publication of the all-volunteer Tokyo Poetry Journal.
