Every month, Nerd Nite gathers smart speakers and a curious crowd, then add to it a bar and some mingling. This month, there will be a speech by journalist Nithin Coca and author Michael Pronko.
Nithin Coca will unravel a tragic story from Tibet, where a celebrity singer set himself on fire in front of the most popular tourist site in Lhasa, the Potala Palace. The site is visited by millions each year, and his act was likely seen by many. Yet, to this day, not a single video or image of the incident exists.
Michael Pronko will talk about the difficulty of describing Tokyo with words. The author has done so in his crime novels set in Tokyo, but he maintains that “Tokyo resists description.”
