A New Take on Folk

Fresh from their third consecutive European tour, the Minyo Crusaders are coming to the Cotton Club with special guest Hajime Chitose for a rare folk song performance.

The performance will include Freddie Tsukamoto and Hajime Chitose on vocals, Chan Yuka on accompaniment, Katsumi Tanaka on guitar, Toshio “Digi” Fujino on bass, Yukinori Yamaguchi on orchestra, Kazuma Koseki on piano, Sonoo on timbales, Naoya Madokoro on congas, Mutsumi Kobayashi on multi-percussion, Yusuke “Peach” Noguchi on trumpet, Koichiro Osawa on saxophone and Ayaka Harada on trombone.

The Minyo Crusaders began their career in 2011 and they’ve continued to experiment with the chemistry between Japanese folk songs and various dance music styles. Vocalist Hajime Chitose made her first major debut in 2002 and her voice is said to be a “once in a century” talent. Her first collaboration with the Minyo Crusaders presented a new interpretation of the traditional folk song honen bushi
