Osaka-born artist Hisaya Kumano will be hosting an ikebana exhibition at Elephant Studio in Shibuya this October.

Despite studying oil painting as a student, and going on to then work as a fashion designer, ikebana has become Kumano’s predominant medium. To date, he has created large-scale works for major Noh theatres, luxury hotels, as well as movie sets in Japan.

This exhibition seeks to remove the usual distraction of human existence, facilitating a pure and simple dialogue with the flowers on display.
