The first solo show from Beijing-born and Tokyo-based artist and musician Dian, ‘Heart & Eyes’ is themed around the idea of the ‘Mind’s eye’: an idea that rich inner worlds exist somewhere between our physical senses and perception.

Dian’s dreamlike images of characters and animals are created and displayed here in diptychs: one in full vibrant color, the other black and white, in order to ‘express the same image with two different senses: the mind, and the eyes.’ Inspired by the otherworldly, Dian says ‘the interaction between the invisible things felt by the mind, and the visible things felt by the eyes, forms images that resemble myths and adventures.’ Don’t miss this Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore gallery takeover by the Beijing-born animation graduate.
