Showcasing the Works of Three Tokyo-Based Artists
The exhibition Fe_Ca_Sn, showcasing the works of Tokyo-based artists, Sae Honda, Azu Kimura and Kathleen Reilly, is being held at Kaamer in Tokyo from June 27 to July 6.
Inspired by the 1920s Surrealist art game Exquisite Corpse, in which participants take it in turns adding to a drawing or poem without seeing each other’s contributions, the three artists are swapping their usual materials — Iron (Fe), Calcium (Ca), and Tin (Sn), by working with the unfamiliar materials of their counterparts.
Honda is a designer and artist based in Tokyo. She uncovers the hidden stories behind objects and materials with her keen insight and hands-on research.
Kimura is a visual artist based in Tokyo and Kofu, working with themes of life and nature. She creates works through various media, including drawings, sculptures, installations and video.
Reilly is a Scottish artist and metalworker living and working in Tokyo. Her recent works, centered around tin casting with butterflies and hand-foraged flowers, attempt to preserve ephemeral experiences, offering a cathartic way to grasp what would otherwise remain beyond her control.
