“Art of Gunma 1941-2009: From the Founding of the Gunma Art Association up to the Present” Exhibition

During WWII in 1941, the Gunma Art Association was founded by nihonga painter Sokyu Isobe, yoga painter Kakujiro Yokobori, craft artist Torizo Morimura and Suiun Komuro, who became a director of the association. Mustering Gunma-based artists of all genres, the group played an active role in holding exhibitions for a decade during and after the war.
