A Tribute to Django Reinhardt
Jazz guitarist Stephan Wrembel will be performing at the Cotton Club for the first time.
Wrembel is a guitarist whose unique style blends jazz, gypsy swing and world music. A native of Fontainebleau, France, Wrembel has released over 20 albums under his own name and under the pseudonym “The Django Experiment.” His latest album, Django New Orleans II: Hors-Série, was released just this past November. Wrembel’s original compositions, including “Bistro Fada,” were featured in Woody Allen’s film Midnight in Paris. At the 2012 Academy Awards, he performed alongside Esperanza Spalding and Pharrell Williams as part of Hans Zimmer’s “All-Star Band.”
This performance will not only mark Stephane’s first Cotton Club performance, but will also coincide with the birthday of his beloved guitarist and composer Django Reinhardt. The performance will feature Stephane Wrembel on guitar, Josh Kaye on guitar and Ari Folman-Cohen on bass.
For both January 22 and January 23, the first performance will open at 17:00 and start at 18:00. The second performance will open at 19:45 and start at 20:30.
