Cool Down and Treat Yourself with Hanamaruobake and Friends
Hanamaruobake, the cute ghost who is Sanrio’s latest character, is hosting a pop-up ice cream stand from August 1 to August 14 on the rooftop terrace of Tokyu Plaza Harajuku Harakado shopping mall. Themed around hanamaru, a flower circle symbol that is often marked on students’ exams highlighting a perfect score or excellent performance, Hanamaruobake’s Relaxing Ice Cream Stand aims to deliver joy and refreshment to those who are working hard every day during the hot summer season.

Along with original ice cream flavors, the pop-up venue will also be an area to relax and have fun. The Harakado terrace will have cute photo spots, decorative awnings and parasols, water misters, and character mascot meet-and-greets.
Outside the Harajuku venue, the campaign will simultaneously have Hanamaruobake Pastel Sweets pop-up shops held at 10 Kiddy Land toy stores nationwide.
Ice Cream Flavors
The ice cream stand features six original flavors, all priced at ¥800 each:
- Mitasare Chocora (Satisfying Chocolate) – chocolate and nuts
- Nagomi Shitorasu (Nagomi Citrus) – yuzu and salt
- Rifuresshu Minto (Refresh Mint) – chocolate and mint
- Kimamana Banana (Carefree Banana) – honey and banana
- Pojitibu Beri (Positive Berry) – strawberry and cookies
- Totonoi Matcha (Invigorating Matcha) – matcha and brown sugar
Each ice cream cone comes topped with monaka wafers in the shape of Hanamaruobake and friends’ ears and a hanamaru flower mark.
Having a hard time deciding what flavor to get? Try taking Hanamaruobake’s “ice cream diagnosis” quiz. Answer all the questions and the characters will tell you which ice cream flavor best compliments your current mood.
On August 7 only, Hanamaruobake’s official birthday, visitors will receive commemorative birthday picks on their scoops.
