Enjoy a Japanese Summer Festival in Roppongi
The Roppongi Hills Bon Odori festival returns for more performances, parades, games and food stalls. The annual summer tradition has been running since 2003 and has a wide variety of activities to celebrate the season.

Festival Eve & Roppongi-Gaku Musical
The event will kick off on August 22 with a preview of weekend attractions. Guests can enjoy the Roppongi-Gaku Musical, a contemporary version of the Dengaku performance art. The performance originates from the 2004 Athens Olympic Torch Relay, when the olympic torch passed through Roppongi Hills Arena. Since 2006, the Roppongi-Gaku has been an iconic part of the Bon Odori’s eve festival. This vibrant performance includes residents, workers and students from the local area who have been rehearsing for nearly two months. The musical will be performed at Roppongi Hills Arena from 19:00 to 20:00.
Food stalls will also open from 17:00 to 21:00 on the first day.
Bon Odori
The grand centerpiece of the festival is, of course, the Bon Odori. Dance to the classic Tokyo Ondo, Hanabi Ondo and the original Ropponjin Ondo around a special yagura drum tower. The dance will be hosted at Roppongi Hills Arena on both August 23 and August 24, from 17:00 to 20:00.
Doraemon Ondo
A special version of the Bon Odori will feature characters from the popular Doraemon series. Families can enjoy dancing together with Doraemon, Nobita and Shizuka on August 23 and August 24, from 19:00.
A Doraemon-themed parade will also take place on August 24 from 15:00 at Roppongi Keyakizaka-dori Street to celebrate Doraemon’s upcoming birthday.

Kids Program
Roppongi Keyakizaka-dori Street will host workshops and activities designed specially for children in the Ocean Playground. With the theme of the ocean and sea creatures, guests can participate in crafts (paid) to make instruments that mimic ocean sounds, ocean bracelets and more. The area will also have a variety of free games and face painting. The kids program will be open from 17:00 to 21:00 on August 22, and from 15:00 to 21:00 on August 23 and 24.
Japanese Performing Arts
Kaga-Manzai, a classical performing art from Kanazawa that was dedicated as an intangible folk cultural asset, will be performed at Roppongi Hills Arena on August 23 from 16:30 to 18:30.
The Hanura Youth Group from Ishikawa Prefecture will perform uma odori (horse dance) from their regional Hanura Autumn Festival. The dance is based on the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani during the Genpei War of the 12th century, and features Kumagai Jiro Naozane on a black horse and Taira Atsumori on a white horse. The dance will be performed twice at Roppongi Hills Arena on August 24, starting at 16:30 and at 18:30.
