Celebrate the Legacy of Jazz Giants
In honor of what would be legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson’s 100th birthday, Blue Note Place invites guests to this special two-night engagement pays tribute to his enduring legacy. ”Respect for Jazz Giants” presents classics by beloved jazz legends.
Dr. Oscar Emanuel Peterson was one of the most prolific jazz pianists of all time, with over 500 recordings and eight Grammy Awards to his name, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. Renowned for his clear playing and virtuosity, he performed with several jazz legends, including Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie.
This performance series presents legendary jazz masterpieces with a powerful formation. It’s curated and hosted by celebrated New York-based pianist Tadataka Unno, who coincidentally shares a birthday with Peterson (August 15). Joining Unno are bassist Brent Nussey and drummer Gene Jackson, both esteemed for their contributions to the global jazz scene.
