Explore the Beauty of Yuzen Dyed Craftsmanship
The Marubeni Gallery will be exhibiting “Splendor and Sophistication: Kimono Masterpieces with Yuzen Dyeing in the Marubeni Collection” from August 5 to September 25. The exhibition features a wide selection of yuzen-dyed pieces, including kimono and scrolls from the Edo period.
The exhibit focuses on yuzen dyeing, a technique that first emerged in the late 17th century that created colorful and delicate results. These textiles were made into rich kimono garments that were popular with urban women. The technique was also developed through hanging scrolls and other traditional crafts, which remain popular today especially in the Hokuriku region.
Marubeni and Hokuhoku FG have been collaborating for recovery and reconstruction efforts following the January 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake. To further support these efforts, all proceeds from this exhibition’s admission fees will be donated.
