The Sound of Summer Memories
Celebrating their 50th anniversary since their debut, the legendary Hawaiian band Kalapana is returning to Japan for a long-awaited visit.
Performers include Gaylord Holomalia on keyboard, Kenji Sano on vocals and bass, Alden Levi on vocals and guitar, Ben Tacca on vocals and guitar, Zanuck Lindsey on vocals and guitar, Todd Yukumoto on saxophone and Konrad Kendrick on drums.
Kalapana’s debut album, Kalapana I, which was released in 1975, has been highly regarded as a symbol of the “Hawaiian Renaissance.” Classic songs such as “Naturally,” “Nightbird” and “The Hurt” are still frequently aired on Hawaiian radio today. Their refreshing sound spans multiple genres including city pop and surf rock, and has been beloved throughout the ages by Japanese fans.
