A Deep Dive Into the World and Legacy of Evangelion

Celebrating 30 years of Evangelion, the All of Evangelion exhibition at Tokyo City View will showcase a deep dive into the legendary anime’s history and production process, paired with impressive scenic views.

The exhibition will be hosted atop the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. With the observatory overlooking the vast Tokyo city landscape, the venue perfectly complements Neon Genesis Evangelion‘s futuristic background and compels visitors to imagine the view from the series’ giant biomechanical mechas.

Exhibition

As visitors enter the exhibition, they will be greeted by a model of the Evangelion Unit-01. Following sunset, a light show exclusive will add an extra touch of excitement.

Premiering in 1995, Neon Genesis Evangelion utilized various animation techniques and technologies to capture the scale and grandeur of the story. The exhibition will display approximately 270 hand-painted animation cels, carefully selected from over 10,000 total frames that have been carefully archived. These artifacts will be on display with the cooperation of the Anime and Special Effects Archive Organization, a non-profit organization established by Hideaki Anno with the aim of managing and preserving materials related to anime and special effects. Other exhibiting pieces include sketches, storyboards and audition audio from the voice actors.

The exhibition also focuses on the evolution from hand-drawn animation to digital production, and even the use of live-action techniques that were seamlessly incorporated into the animation process.

Tickets

Advance discounted tickets are available online. Special tickets will be available for guests who either were 14 years old when Evangelion premiered in 1995 (¥1000), or will turn 14 years old by March 2026 (¥500) — highlighting how main character Shinji Ikari was also 14 years old at the start of the series.

During weekdays from November 14 to January 9 (excluding December 29 to January 2), guests will receive one random original All of Evangelion card. There will be five available designs, featuring characters Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Kaworu and Mari.

Original Goods

The exhibition will have a variety of merchandise available, including an official exhibit catalogue. Goods exclusive to the All of Evangelion exhibition include acrylic stands and button badges featuring the exhibition key visuals, a metal keychain with the exhibition’s logo and a skateboard deck designed with Evangelion Unit-01.

Cafe

The Sun & The Moon cafe, also on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower, will serve a special collaboration menu inspired by Evangelion. Menu items include Asuka’s tomato pasta, the 10th angel burger, Nagisa’s black sesame parfait, Rei’s chiffon cake dessert, Shinji’s blue calpis drink and more.

To access the cafe, guests will need an admission ticket to the All of Evangelion exhibition, to the observation deck, the Mori Arts Center Gallery or the Mori Art Museum. The cafe will be open from 11:00 to 22:00 (last orders for food at 21:00 and for drinks at 21:30)
