Explore New Angles and Dimensions

Ultra Super New gallery’s new exhibition, “A Perspective,” will showcase Takeru Iwazaki’s fluid and conceptual art.

The exhibition attempts to reexamine long-standing practices centered on drawing on square paper. Iwazaki looks at new angles and possibilities through two bodies of work. The Orgm series goes beyond the flat plane and transforms abstract drawings into material objects through folding, layering and deformation. The series echos the cultural language of origami, Japan’s paper folding art. Becoming sculptural panels, these artworks embody rhythm and motion.

The Extract series examines the relationship between the individual and the collective, and the tension and harmony and emerges. To express interconnectedness, the typical rectangular canvas is replaced with a circular form that represents continuity and harmony with no beginning or end.

Influenced by street culture and electronic music, Takeru Iwazaki is inspired by phenomena of the natural world, such as the flow of water and the stillness of trees. His work masterfully captures the energy of all living things in expansive and fluid lines.
