After taking Tokyo by storm since its Harajuku debut in October 2024, the beloved Chiikawa Bakery is finally making its Kansai debut. Chiikawa Bakery Osaka opens on 26 June at KITTE Osaka in Umeda — and fans in western Japan won’t have to make the trek to Tokyo anymore. Better yet, the Osaka branch isn’t just a replica of the original; it’s bringing its own locally-flavored twist to the table.

What’s on the Menu
In addition to its Osaka-exclusives, the bakery brings its full roster of character-themed breads and sweets that made the Tokyo branch a hit.
First and foremost: the Chiikawa Takosen Burger (¥670). This Osaka-only creation puts a Chiikawa-face bun to work as the vessel for — yes — actual takoyaki. It’s a bold fusion of Osaka soul food and the cute Chiikawa universe, and it’s exactly the kind of thing you’d only ever find here. If you try nothing else, try this.

The most popular items are the character cream buns — soft, pillowy buns shaped like Chiikawa (filled with custard), Hachiware (chocolate), and Usagi (caramel). They’re almost too cute to eat, but you will anyway. Equally unmissable is the Chiikawa Shokupan, a lightly sweetened milk bread with a gentle hint of honey that works just as well as an afternoon snack as it does at breakfast.

For something more filling, the Ro-san Pan is a savory bread inspired by the ramen served at the “Ro” restaurant in the Chiikawa universe — and yes, the bowl is included too.

On the sweeter, snackable end of the spectrum, the Sasumata Stick Pie is a flaky, sugar-dusted pastry shaped like the spear weapon that Chiikawa and Hachiware wield during their battles.
Rounding out the menu are a couple of items that double as great gifts. The Financier Trio features buttery, moist financiers in matcha and other flavors, packaged neatly enough to hand over as a souvenir without any extra wrapping. The Chiikawa Bakery Mixed Fruit Jam is another easy gift pick and an Osaka-exclusive — a sweet, character-branded spread that’s a bit more lasting than the baked goods. And if you’re after something savory to take home, the Kurimanju Garlic Rusks — crunchy, garlicky, and packaged in Kurimanju’s favorite canned beer — are the kind of thing that disappear long before you intended them to.
Even without a reservation, there are freebies up for grabs in the early days:
- Spend ¥2,200 or more and receive a free Osaka-limited shopper tag (1 design, while stocks last)
- Order any takeaway drink and get a free Osaka-limited original coaster (3 designs, distributed at random, while stocks last)
Note that bottled drinks from the merchandise section don’t count toward the drink perk — you’ll need to order a proper takeaway drink to qualify.

How To Get a Reservation
If you want to guarantee your visit — and score a bonus in the process — web reservations are the way to go. Bookings open on June 17, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. via the official Chiikawa Bakery website, and each reservation comes with a ¥1,000 shopping voucher to use in store. Given the likely queues on opening day and beyond, securing a slot in advance is well worth it.
