What to Expect

Hakata’s beauty isn’t just in its scenery—it’s in the hands of its artisans. This immersive program bridges the gap between the past and the present. You will trace the origins of Hakata’s heritage at ancient shrines, sit down with masters to create your own craft, and witness the raw power of a working blacksmith forge. This is a day to feel the heartbeat of Hakata’s “Monozukuri” (craftsmanship) spirit.

Experience Highlights

  • Living Heritage: Visit Joten-ji (birthplace of Hakata-ori) and the Machiya Folk Museum.

  • Be the Artisan: Try your hand at painting Hakata Dolls, Chochin lanterns, or making Magemono woodcraft.

  • The Blacksmith’s Forge: Exclusive access to the Ooba Blacksmith Workshop to see sparks fly in a real artisan workshop.
