Yuji Ueda Exhibition: Memories of Resonating Clays
Admire the abstract works of Yuji Ueda in his first solo exhibition titled, Memories of Resonating Clays. Surrounded by remains of old kilns as a child, Ueda’s relationship with ceramics began early. He studied under the tutelage of renown ceramicist Yasuhisa Kohyama and developed his own style and aesthetic, marked with works featuring fissures and unorthodox shapes, from small ornaments to massive 2-meter pieces. Memories of Resonating Clays showcases more than 100 of Ueda’s newest ceramics, often made of clumps of natural clay deformed and exploded during the firing process, through a technique the artist has mastered over the years.
