Wakaku Zeika – Contemporary Japanese Crafts

Shining a spotlight on 12 contemporary artists who are evolving Japanese crafts and taking them into the next generation. In this exhibition, visitors can see modern artworks and handicrafts from across a variety of mediums rooted in Japanese culture. From ceramics and shoe making to cast aluminium, lacquer and glass, a wide variety of pieces showcase the future of Japanese crafting and explore it’s connections to the past. The featured artists, all born after 1970, include Takuro Kuwata, Noritaka Tatehana, Terumaki Ikeda, Akane Yamamoto and more.
