As always, the New National Theatre, Tokyo welcomes some of the world’s finest opera singers to its stage. For this grandiose, Italian-style production of Puccini’s melodramatic opera (first performed in Rome in 1900!), the role of Tosca is played by Catherine Naglestad who is acclaimed for her rich musicality and charisma, while Cavaradossi is played by Jorge de Leon who has come to the fore as a spinto tenor. Look forward to this thrilling tale set in Rome during the time of Napolean’s advance, and featuring a fiery diva, her artist lover, and a corrupt chief of police. Sung in Italian with Japanese subtitles.
