TOKYO “Suki” Festival 2017
The TOKYO “Suki” Festival is back and bigger and better than before! Breaking out from its Ueno Park hub into the surrounding area, the festival has been increased from last year’s three-day event to an impressive 10 days, with a new festival director at the helm. ‘Suki’ Festival aims to communicate Japanese culture to the world through art, utilizing public space and connecting artists and visitors. Amongst various other works, activities and musical performances, this year’s program highlights include Katsuhiko Hibino, Yosuke Kaifu & Jin Ishikawa’s “Ueno Shipyard” installation, Kazuyuki Hashimoto’s “ITO EN Tea Taster Forest” and the return of the “Lighting Detectives” workshops exploring and discussing the park illuminations after dark. The festival also includes the Yanaka Art Project where students from Paris and Tokyo have worked together to turn the Yanaka area into an art spot.
