Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run 2018
Up for a run but not quite into running a whole marathon? In that case, the Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run may be just the event for you! Taking place before the main Tokyo Marathon event, this fun run aims to bring people together and show visitors true Japanese hospitality.
The run is 4 kilometers long (about 2.5 miles), isn’t timed, and is open to pretty much anyone who would like to participate! (Kids aged six and up are eligible to join.)
All participants will get two gifts: a Japanese fan and a tenugui cloth. Both items feature a traditional geometric design called shippo, which means “the seven treasures of Buddhism”. The pattern is an auspicious one, bringing good fortune and luck to its wearer.
Applications for the fun run are open until Friday, Jan 19, 2018 5:00 pm (JST)
