Timeless Conversations 2020: Online Workshop & Talk

Art, Live Streaming, Meetups & Workshops

Roppongi’s National Art Center, Tokyo exhibition Timeless Conversations 2020: Voices from Japanese Art of the Past and Present, on view until August 24, is holding a number of online programs conducted by participant artists. Surrealist Tomoko Konoike, known for her monumental, mythical and distinctly Japanese works, is doing an online talk on August 18. The discussion will feature Kanji Yumisashi, a painter who explores suicide and memorials through lively color. For those interested in participating, register to participate here (the registration deadline is August 18).

On August 15, famed manga artist Kotobuki Shiriagari is also holding an online workshop – called “Let’s Play With Hokusai!” – encouraging participants to play with the artist’s own parodic Nearly Thirty-Six Somewhat Ridiculous Views. Although registration to participate has ended, the workshop will be streamed.

The exhibition will also be streaming exclusive videos of such artists as Akira Minagawa, and Koji Tanada – check out their YouTube. You can also view exhibition works online.

All events are in Japanese only.
