Temari Sushi & Japanese Pickles Workshop (+Sake Tasting)

During the Tanabata Festival in Asagaya, Suginami Ward will offer the opportunity to try your hand at a preparing traditional Japanese foods under the guidance of an experienced, English-speaking instructor. Learn how to make colorful, and cute, temari sushi. These rolled balls are easy to make, and, usually served during happy occasions, will impress any guest or family member. Also learn about the koji-fermentation process and how to make a variety of pickled foods, an essential ingredient to balancing traditional Japanese meals. Join any of the four sessions of this 30-minute workshop.

Summer Sake Tasting

At a separate workshop, learn about the best sake for summer, and how this Japanese rice wine is made. You’ll also learn about and try sake tasting, including a blindfold taste test.
