Taro Okamoto Exhibition – The Japanese Shadow

Art

This special exhibition from museum director Akiomi Hirano brings together photographs taken by Taro Okamoto in the 1950s and 1960s. Okamoto was inspired by his desire to define what “real” and “original” Japan is. Drawn towards more unconventional art as opposed to traditional Japanese wabi-sabi or beauty, Okamoto takes viewers on a journey to discover the true essence of Japanese culture.
