Taisho Jidai Matsuri

Markets & Festivals

Take a step back in time to the Taisho era at this historical matsuri surrounding Yono Station. Yono station in Saitama was opened on November 1st of the first year of the Taisho period in 1912. The local community first organized a Taisho period-inspired festival on the station’s 80th year in business in 1992 and the event has been going strong ever since. Experience the sights, sounds and flavors of yesterday with nostalgic festival games and stalls, carriage rides and live performances. In addition there is a special parade featuring people dressed up in Taisho era costumes, from dapper military men, old fashioned uniforms, vintage kimono, and even Edwardian dresses.
