Tadashi Ono Exhibition: Costal Motifs

This exhibition of photographs captures a Japanese artist’s reaction to the gigantic sea wall being built along the east coast of Japan. Tokyo native and France-based photographer Tadashi Ono previously photographed the disaster stricken area in northeastern Japan after the 2011 earthquake, and he was shocked when he returned to the area years later to discover a 10m-high, 400km-long wall being constructed. His photographs capture and question Japan’s relationship with nature and depict the stark contrast of protective structures obscuring once scenic views.
