Special Opera Screenings at NNTT: “Der Ring des Nibelungen”
For autumn, the New National Theatre Tokyo is holding a series of free screenings of Richard Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen.” Divided into four different operas, often collectively referred to as the Ring cycle, this German production was created by Wagner over a period of 26 years from 1848-1874.
These screenings give you the chance to watch video footage of the performances on an 85-inch screen in an informal, relaxed space where you can feel free to enter and leave as you please. Reservations aren’t required but space is limited to 40 people on a first come first served basis. Screenings are held on the 5th floor at the Information Center (Library).
NNTT will be screening the operas as follows:
8 September 10:30 – “Das Rheingold”
15 September 10:30 – “Die Walküre”
22 September 10:30 – “Siegfried”
29 September 10:30 – “Götterdämmerung”
