Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2018 Autumn Screening
The 20th Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), a qualifying film festival for the annual Academy Awards® and one of Asia’s largest international short film festivals, will hold the Autumn Screening 2018 (co-organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government) in association with the 31st edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival.
Nearly 40 short films will be screened at this annual event aimed at spreading the world of short film and supporting up-and-coming filmmakers. The lineup includes SSFF & ASIA 2018’s George Lucas Award (Grand Prix) winner Benjamin’s Last Day at Katong Swimming Complex, Japan Premiere Short Family Happiness starring Ben Whishaw (Perfume), directed by Alice Englert, daughter of Australian director Jane Campion, and The Second Bakery Attack starring Kirsten Dunst, based on a novel by Haruki Murakami and directed by Carlos Cuarón (Rudo y Cursi).
Other various events will be hosted, including a seminar for creators held on October 8 led by film director Shinichiro Ueda, known for the record breaking hit One Cut of the Dead. The Branded Shorts program, which focuses on company branding movies, will also be screened, and a talk event with Takuma Takasaki, an executive creative director at Dentsu Inc., will be held.
