Shamisen of Nagauta Workshop

Listen, learn and even try your hand playing Nagauta music on shamisen at this inclusive workshop.  As part of Arts Council Tokyo’s ‘Traditional culture experience program for foreign visitors’ this series of ongoing workshops invites people of all backgrounds to discover and enjoy traditional Japanese culture.  Nagauta originated as kabuki music and was developed as shamisen (three-string instrument) music.  Professional nagauta players will give a demonstration performance and explain nagauta in a way that makes it easy even for first-timers to understand.  The workshops are held in three time slots (check the website for full details),  pre registration is not required but participation is based on a first come first served basis.
