Pierre Bonnard – The Never-Ending Summer
A large-scale retrospective exhibition of the French painter featuring works from collections in Japan and abroad, including the Musée d’Orsay. Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) was active in the Paris scene as part of the avant garde artist group The Nabis. Heavily influenced by Japanese ukiyo-e and working amongst a variety of exciting and progressive contemporaries, Bonnard developed his own unique Post Impressionist style, renowned for his use of color and the dreamlike quality of his works. Through works from many genres, including paintings, sketches, prints, and photographs, this extensive exhibition explores the charms, influences and legacy of the enigmatic Frenchman.
