A haunted costume contest to commemorate the season brings its annual gathering of ghouls to Hanazono Park in Taito-ku. Setsubun marks the changing seasons and its also the time when evil spirits can cross over into our world, so the best way to stay safe is to hide among them in your own demon disguise. Ghosts, spirits, haunted dolls and all manner of obake Japanese monsters are welcome to attend and see this years entrants take part in the 9th annual costume contest. In addition there will be a selection of festival stalls, a fox mask making workshops and a prize lottery. 2021 will also see a special ceremony to pray for the end of the global pandemic, needless to say all monsters should stay safe and socially distanced at the event.
